About the GovTrack immigration directory

Who publishes this

GovTrack publishes this directory. GovTrack already helps people follow an immigration case through the federal system, and the question we kept hearing was simpler than the paperwork: who do I actually call. This directory is our attempt to answer that honestly, starting with what is already public about each business and stating plainly what we have not confirmed.

We are not affiliated with USCIS or any government agency, and nothing here is legal advice.

Why it looks unfinished in places

Most of what people want to know before calling a firm — the languages the team speaks, what a consultation costs, who handles removal cases — is not in any public dataset we can read. Rather than fill those gaps with something plausible, we leave them empty and label them. That is why a listing can look sparse: it is sparse because nobody has answered, not because we stopped looking.

Every listing starts as a candidate. A firm moves to a confirmed label by supplying its own details and having them approved, and the page then shows which facts came from the firm and when we approved them.

No advertising, no paid placement

There is no advertising on this site and no paid placement of any kind. No firm can pay to appear, to rank higher, or to have a competitor removed. Ordering inside a city is an exact city match, then alphabetical by firm name. Ratings and review counts are shown when the imported listing carries them, but they do not move a listing and they are never described as ours.

How firms take part

Firms can already ask us to correct or remove a listing, and we act on those requests today. A firm can also claim its own listing and supply its details itself: GovTrack issues a claim link for a contact the firm designates and passes that link to the firm directly, and the firm works through its profile sections, saving and resuming on whatever device it likes. Nothing the firm enters changes the public page until GovTrack approves it, and once a section is approved the page shows the firm's own answer and the date we approved it. A firm that has claimed its listing can return and revise a section at any time; the approved version stays live until the revision is approved.

Data and privacy

The privacy and data lifecycle page lists exactly which business fields we publish, which addresses stay private, and what we keep when a firm claims a listing. The short version: we publish business contact information and facts the firm has approved, and nothing about you or your case.
